baby sitting how much

Hi, I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me some advice. I have a 2yr old and a 9yr old, I am looking to have a mothers helper more than anything for my 2yr old. My daughter needs a lot of help with her homework it usually takes 2hrs, and I want someone to sit with my son while I help her. I have never payed for a babysitter and have no Idea what the going rate is. Any thoughts would be a help. Thank you

if that's the case then i was over-pay. I pay $10 an hour and I have a 5 year old and a 20month old, but I paid $10 an hour even when I only had my daughter. Obviously, your 9 year old won't need as much attention as your 2 year old, but I think $2 is way too low regardless of how many kids they're watching. I would say at least $5 an hour.

i thought the going rate was $2 an hour. back in the day when i was baby sitting, i would get $10 a day no matter how long i was there for.
