Preemies

Hi. This is Kate. Grandma Kate. My daughter gave birth to a beautiful daughter recently. While I am thrilled they are both doing very well, I am a bit nervous because the baby was seven weeks early and is so tiny. Has anyone else had preemie jitters?

Oh, thank you for the suport! Yes, our "Peanut" is growing. And my jitters have pretty much vanished. Changing that first diaper made me nervous because of her size. But we're doing much better.

As a Mom to 3 preemies, I can totally relate. One thing to remember, although they are tiny, they will not break. :) My oldest daughter and my son was both 5 weeks early, both weighing 4lbs and my daughter dropped to 3lbs. My youngest daughter was 4 weeks early and a 5 pounder. All are doing great now. They all made the milestones for their age...but not all do. And that is normal too. When our first preemie was born, my husband was afraid to hold her. To this day, she is still called our "Peanut". Soon, you will be used to seeing her tiny and won't be nervous at all! Congrats and I'm glad they are doing well!
