| | Extra hugsDecember 14, 2012 - Kristy MacKabenThere are floors to mop, stories to write, laundry to fold, dishes to clean and Christmas presents to buy. But, who really cares? All I can think about is the horrific school shooting today in Connecticut. The rest of the day will be spent hugging Johnny and smothering him with kisses, and talking to Julie on the phone to tell her how much I love her. (Julie is in California with Scott for a family party. Johnny and I stayed here because my parents are coming to Chicago by train tomorrow.) How lucky are we who still have our kids to whine and throw tantrums and spill milk and refuse to eat dinner? We still have our kids. They aren't perfect. But, there are parents today who can no longer hug and hold their children today. My heart goes out to them. And, I will let go of all annoyances and bad feelings today. I still have my little ones and that's all that should matter. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | |
