Park of the Day: Kelly Park

June 16, 2012 - Jen Zbozny
When we moved here in 2009, it was a challenge to discover fun and interesting places to go and do. So many good, kind people clued me in to the variety of wonderful options there are. It's my duty to give back. So here's today's tidbit. Park of the Day: Kelly Park.

Kelly Park is a lovely little playground located at the corner of South Juniata and Jones Street in Hollidaysburg. It's a great destination for a little outdoor playtime after a trip to the Hollidaysburg Library on Allegheny Street Its features include:

* swing set (no bucket swings) * play structure with tunnel slide, side-by-side slide, and several things to climb on * picnic table * half basketball court * cement path * shaded area under trees

The cement path and the basketball court are good for ride-ons, bikes, hopscotch, or chalk art. The shaded area is a good place to lay a blanket down and watch the children play. Though the park is small and doesn’t have a restroom or pavilion it has great visibility and there is a grocery store within 2 blocks (good for a bathroom emergency or for picking up a picnic lunch!). It’s easy to keep an eye on the kids while they play and there is enough grassy space for running around otoo. On the whole, a pleasant little park!
