Pervasive smoking culture

I'm not sure if it's just because I'm not a smoker, but I was dismayed to see that nearly 20 percent of high school kids are smokers. Peter Panepinto's story on A1 is about advertising bans on smoking and alcohol, and how they aren't that effective in curbing underage use.

Registration will be held on Saturday for the USBC Youth bowling program for kids at Splinters. The ad on A5 has details.

The Curve's final homestand of the season begins Friday. The ad on A6 has details about promotions from Friday through Monday.

The first Fearless Football Forecast for the season is in today on B4. There are a few across-the-board predictions, including Tyrone, Glendale and Portage.

How about those trapped Chilean miners? I can't imagine knowing it would be months till I was rescued. Read the latest on C4.

Ladies, don't forget about the Gridiron for Girls event next week at The Casino at Lakemont Park. The ad on D3 has info on tickets.
