![]() Stories of a Stay-at-Home MomEnd of Summer...well almostI can't believe most kids will be heading back to school tomorrow. I really feel like the summer just whizzed by...barely any downtime for our crew. Julie's first day of school isn't until Sept. 8, so I still have a week and a half to enjoy her. I'm glad we have a little time left to make up for some not so great times this summer. I feel like I spent half of the summer upset with Julie or just in disbelief at her behavior. She just seemed so unhappy and contrary for a lot of the summer. I'm hoping it was a phase because things have gotten better (and Scott and I have changed some of our discipline tactics as well.) When the summer began, I just had such high hopes for wonderful trips and learning experiences. I was certain my little girl would learn to read, swim, ride a bike, fly to the moon...the possibilities were endless. Now we have a week and a half remaining and I haven't checked everything off my list, though I can say Julie did start swimming by herself a little bit, she's pedaling her bike at least, and she has sounded out a few words this summer. And today was a a great day. MOMS Club had an End of Summer party at Duncansville Memorial Park and the kids had a ball. They enjoyed rootbeer floats and had a blast throwing rocks in the creek and looking for tadpoles with all their friends. My kids absolutely love that park! I just wish we had more of those days this summer. Maybe I can pack all my fun and learning into the last week and a half of summer vacation. Think it's possible?
