Black, White and Read All Over

They're not No. 1

Penn State says it doesn't pay much attention to the Princeton Review rankings. (See Scott Muska's story on A1.) The latest ones came out this week, and PSU fell from the top party school to third place. (I bet university officials are secretly happy about it, though.) On another note, the university did top the list for students pack the stadium.

Aren't the Eberling sisters who are playing a game of touch football cute? They're in the A1 photo today. They sure look alike.

The A2 photo of Hollidaysburg students at band camp brings back memories for me -- both of my band camp experiences as a student and those of my kids. Once band camp time rolls around, you know the first day of school isn't far off.

Most of you are way too young to remember "Sing Along With Mitch," but it used to be something our family watched when I was growing up. I see on today's obit page that Mitch Miller died, and it brought back memories of our family huddled around the one TV watching it. Times were so much simpler then.

Another sad story on A6 about a teen who was killed in a car crash. Brett Scell was a passenger in a vehicle that went off the road in Huntindon County Sunday evening, and he died at the scene.

Make sure to read John Hartsock's story on B1 about Micah DeLattre of Houtzdale who came home from Steelers training camp with a pretty amazing souvenir.

I was glad to read in Cory Giger's column on B1 that JoePa looked and sounded better after the press conference than he did on the TV clip I saw yesterday. Are you ready for some football?

Read the story on C1 about kids' Social Security numbers being targeted by identity thieves. Your child could end up having a major problem later on if he or she is an unlucky victim.

Looks like camo clothes are in vogue for school kids this year (story on D1).

Kudos to the students from Northern Bedford County HIgh School who reeived academic awards this spring. The list of recipients is on D3 today.
