Black, White and Read All Over

Brrrrrrr!!

Last weekend, Penn State students held their annual THON to raise money for the Four Diamonds Fund. Yesterday, members of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity at St. Francis raised money for the Alzheimer's Association with their polar bear plunge. (See JD Cavrich's photo on A1.) I love stories that show the great things our young people are doing.

Savings alert -- kids' meals are 99 cents on Sunday at Uno Chicago Grill. the ad's on A3.

Check out the Rec Room on B5 for photos of basketball, soccer and volleyball league winners.

Classified ad alert -- Fisher Price cottage for $30.

The Missoula Children's Theatre is putting on a production of "Jack and the Beanstalk" this weekend. The cool thing is they come in and audition kids this week, then rehearse them and put on the play in just days. What a great opportunity for young people with an interest in theater! See Jimmy Mincin's story on D1 for more information.

The Altoona Symphony Orchestra is offering a Cushion Concert of "The Steadfast Tin Soldier" on Saturday at the Altoona Area Public Library. It's free for families and sounds like a wonderful way to introduce kids to live music. See the brief on D2.
