Black, White and Read All Over

A somber mood

I can't imagine anyone who isn't touched by the death of Joe Dado, a Penn State University student. Josh Langenbacher traveled to University Park on Tuesday and wrote an excellent piece on how the atmosphere of the campus has changed because of the death. His story and photo is on A1 today.

Also on A1, read Amanda Clegg's story on the World War II veteran who spoke to Central High School students Tuesday. Roger Bowers was true to all of those in the Greatest Generation -- he didn't want a story about himself. He just wanted students to know about the price of freedom and how he would willingly do it all over again.

Did you see the A3 ad today? DelGrosso's Amusement Park is holding Harvestfest this weekend. There will be music, food, a car show, a Civil War encampment, crafts and of course rides!

Kopp Drug is offering $19.99 flu shots. See the ad on A7. I feel like I am running into more and more people who have the flu this year. I better get a shot.

Giant Eagle and the American Cancer Society are teaming up in the fight against cancer with a couple of upcoming events. Jimmy Mincin's story on D1 has more details about the Grocers Fight Cancer day and the Toast to Hope celebration.
