Black, White and Read All Over

New school in the works

It looks like Huntingdon will be taking on a large building project, after the school board voted Monday to build a new middle school. Jeff Gill's story on A1 lays out the problems that have been plaguing the current building, which isn't that old.

I'm really saddened by the death of a Penn State University freshman, whose body was found last night after a day-and-a-half search. (See the brief on A6.) Joe Dado was missing since early Sunday morning. I guess because I have a son who's a sophomore, I try to put myself in that family's shoes and think how horrific such a thing would be. My heart goes out to all who knew and loved Joe.

The G20 summit in Pittsburgh means a lot of changes for the city as it hosts world leaders. My niece and nephew both work in downtown Pittsburgh, and both of their companies advised employees to take vacation days Thursday and Friday to avoid any problems. There is info on C5 today about closings at colleges, cultural attractions and government offices as well as transportation issues.
