Black, White and Read All Over

Sale days

Are you hitting the road for the Fourth of July? AAA predicts there will be fewer people doing so, which may mean less congested highways. (See Walt Frank's A1 story.) We used to always travel back to Pennsylvania from Connecticut for the Fourth when we lived there, and I remember one year we were driving at night and passed several towns'  fireworks displays that the kids could watch off in the distance the night before the holiday. That was really fun for them. I don't think you ever grow tired of watching fireworks.

Gabriel Brothers has another of its $3, $5, $7 and $9 sales going on starting today. The ad on A6 has the details on some of what is marked down, including kids' clothing and beach towels. You might want to stock up now with prices like that.

The Hollidaysburg YMCA's annual Fourth of July Race is Saturday. It's really a family event, down to the littlest ones. They offer a Lollipop Run for kids 8 and under. Read John Hartsock's story on B1 for times, fees, etc.

If you're in the market for a new washer and dryer, I see Appliance Outlet (ad on B8) is giving customers a $300 rebate if they purchase select appliances. Think how much Tide that could buy.

Do you have your carrier hold your papers for you when you go on vacation? I love coming back to a bag full of Mirrors to peruse as I have time. I feel like I catch up on everything that isn't on our Web site, which I check religiously when I am out of town. There is only so much we put up on there, and for the rest of it, well, obviously you have to get the paper. Anyway, if you order what we call a Mirror Vacation Pack, where all of your papers are saved for you, you could win a Sheetz gift card to use for gas or MTOs or whatever you get at Sheetz. The ad with the details is on C3.

I just ordered a 10-pound box of blueberries through my church, so I'm clipping the recipe on D6 for Blueberry Lemon Squares to make when they come in later this month. That sounds like a yummy dessert.
