Black, White and Read All Over

POSTED:Tue, November 18, 2008 @ 10:42AM

Good news, bad news

Good news in the A1 story today about new regulations for the state's child care centers. Inspection violations must be posted, and centers must give parents twice-yearly reports on their children's development. There are also health and safety requirements they must adhere to.

Bad news in the C1 story on more kids going hungry last year as parents struggled to feed their families. More than 50 percent suffered "a substantial disruption in the amount of food they typically eat." It makes me sick in my stomach thinking of how much food we throw out on garbage day as we clean out the fridge of expired food or leftovers from our bounty.

Brenda Carberry's Community page on D2 has a great section on School Notes today, recognizing achievements by students in various schools. Bring on the good news!
